FCS Playoff Elimination - Week 4 (95 remain)

At the beginning of the 2009 football season, teams in the Football Championship Subdivision were vying for a playoff spot in the field of 16. The Richmond Spiders are the defending national championship team. FCS is the highest rated division of NCAA competition that has a true playoff that lets the champion win their crown by their play on the field. Eight of those spots in the playoff bracket are awarded to conference champions from the following conferences: Big Sky, CAA, MEAC, MVFC, OVC, Patriot, Southern and Southland. The remaining eight spots are awarded as at-large bids. To qualify for an at-large bid, a team must win a minimum of 7 games against Division 1 FBS (formerly 1-A) or FCS (formerly 1-AA). There are 107 programs that are classified as FCS, however, ten of those were ineligible for post season play before the first ball was kicked. After only four weeks of play, there are two others that have been eliminated for at-large consideration. Fourteen teams are sitting on the playoff elimination bubble as they must win each of their remaining Division 1 games.
